The first Firefox OS smartphones are now available

It is not only the major equipment manufacturers who will ship the mobile OS Mozilla Firefox OS, since other lesser known, such as the Spanish startup Geeksphone also has proposed a pair of shipping the new operating system.

Not only that, but Geeksphone also proposed its devices before anyone else, since Keon and Peak are gold-and already available for pre-order. While they are listed as "developer previews" so they will not be available on the shelves of many operators, if you expect to try Firefox OS, then you now have the chance.

Anyone who has registered to be alerted to when he could get his hands on these new smartphones offered by Geeksphone have received an email this morning saying that the online store is now open. Unfortunately, my few attempts to get through the ordering process are seen stopped by an authentication failure, or a problem loading the page and more ... It seems that the application is consistent for the first launch of Firefox OS .

So what is proposed in these smartphones? Keon (pictured above) is the base model, equipped with a 3.5-inch touchscreen, a processor running at 1 GHz, 4 GB of internal storage and a camera of 3 megapixels. It is sold at a price of around 100 euros plus sales taxes.
The Peak is slightly further, because it has a 4.3-inch touchscreen, a processor running at 1.2 GHz, an 8-megapixel camera and a front camera for video calls. It costs a little more than Keon, that is to say 150 euros, plus sales tax.

This sounds like a good deal right? Not so fast, because the shipping and taxes add at least 90 euros for each order. The problem is that the market has Geeksphone for himself the same, because even if Sony has released a Firefox OS ROM for Xperia S, it has no connectivity options, it becomes unnecessary as a telephone.

The company conjointly notes that, since each handsets area unit being oversubscribed directly through Geeksphone, all support are provided by the manufacturer. Specific information on the Firefox OS and also the building of apps for it'll be on the market, of course, through Mozilla’s Developer Network.

If you do not have a money problem, and you have the patience to start the process of order, you can order your Geeksphone here.
